Cloud-based access control systems—or hybrid access control systems that may communicate with the cloud rather than operating solely in the cloud—have been available for quite some time now, but there continues to be some trepidation toward adopting cloud-based solutions. According to industry experts SDM spoke with, attitudes toward cloud-based solutions have changed to the point where it would be remarkable if a customer wasn’t somewhat interested in a cloud-based solution. Still, there exists some lag in the technology’s adoption.

Keypad readers can add an extra layer of security to access control applications using two-factor authentication: reading a physical or mobile credential, as well as accepting a PIN.

Keypad Features:

  • Capacitive, non-mechanical, solid-state keypads have no moving parts.
  • Individual key presses are indicated by audible beep and LED flash.
  • 5-key stays backlit for easier orientation in low-light conditions.
  • Keypad remains backlit for approx. 20 seconds after key press or credential presentation.
  • Fully potted and IP67 code rated, for installing indoors or out.
